Posted on: Sangamon County, Il Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Sangamon/12003 Surname: Alsbury, Hodgerson, Huggins, Jarrett ------------------------- Charles Alsbury 1751-1838 is buried in my family's cemetery, the Hodgerson Cemetery, in present Maxwell TWP. The Alsburys cross my lines in several places. Reportedly he was married to a Mrs. Jane Huggins in VA . Jane's maiden name is unknown. She had a daughter, Jane Huggins by her first husband. This Jane Huggins b 1816 married William Jarrett. Some of these Jarretts married into my lines. In Powers book is mentioned a son Charles Alsbury and this Charles Alsbury's children are mentioned. In an Alsbury genealogy this Charles' birthdate is given as 1799 in VA. He also came to IL and at least one of his children Levi married Mary Hodgerson. Ann Alsbury, b about 1822, who is thought to be a daughter of the elder Charles and Jane Huggins married John Hodgerson in Sangamon Co. in 1840. My question is does anyone know for sure that Ann Alsbury Hodgerson is indeed the daughter of the elder Charles and who may be the mother of Charles born in 1799. Margarette Davis

Can someone on this list supply me with the address of a Sangamon County historical or genealogical society contact person? Secondly, doe s anyone know if there is a "cemetery oversight" agency in Sangamon County? Thanks in advance for your help. Hi Shirley--I notice that the first picture of Solomon and Rebeca Shetter still gives her name as Martha Ellen--I don't mean to be picky. Also, submitted another picture and thank you for all that you do. I am hoping to contact descendants of James A. Smith b. abt 1838 in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois m. Martha Drennan [b. 1842 in Chatham, Sangamon, Illinois] April 23, 1864 in Sangamon Co., Illinois. I have recently received some pension application papers from the step-mother of Martha and there are some affidavits from James and Martha. Glad to share my information. Right now all I know is that they had a son named George E. b. abt 1870. Thanks Bob Drennan

I believe it is Margaret C. Alexander, daughter of John Sloan Alexander and Mary Simpson early settlers of Sangamon County - Margaret C. Hi, Bill, nice to hear from you. I'll check my database for the family names you mentioned and let you know. I have the minutes from 1823-1839 almost completed, except for the statistical tables. There never has been a history written of this association as far as I know, and I'm gradually compiling information which could be made into a pamphlet history. There is a possibility I might publish something of this nature, for free distribution or else at a very minimal cost to cover postage. The minutes after 1839 are also in existence, with a few exceptions, through 1914. Hi, I am descended from Obadiah Archer. He and his family were early settlers in Sangamon Co., 1820-1821. I'd love to find out about any references to the Archer, McKenzie, Duff, or Riddle families in the Sangamon Assoc. minutes. How are you going to publish them? For that matter, do you need help transcribing them? I can't put a tremendous amount of time, but I could do some. Oh, your references to Spring Creek are tantalizing. The McKenzie family and several other Catholic families moved from KY and settled along Spring Creek. Bios: Klintworth, Shaffer Note: I've moved the Morgan County Cemetery records to a separate page (there is a link on the index page) - as I intend to continue to update listings, add obits and pictures, felt the index page would become too cumbersome to navigate with all the cemeteries listed singly on the index page. Easier to move these few now than to move many later. When you get to the cemetery page, just scroll down to the name of the cemetery you seek (another bit of info - the cemeteries are listed by multiple names if they've been known by more than one name; for example Jacksonville East, East Cemetery, Jacksonville City Cemetery). Until I've updated and moved them, many are still on the Morgan County page with links to them on the MAGA cemetery page - they might be a tad slower to load until I have them moved. Am hoping those of you out there who have tombstone pictures from one of the cemeteries in the MAGA counties will share same.....the more you share, the fewer to take and the quicker I can get them updated and moved. As I move them to the MAGA page, am including any obits I have.........notice I haven't jumped on any of the big ones yet.....smile. If any of the list members feel like typing, I have hundreds and hundreds which need to be done before they can go online and be linked to the cemetery readings.
I missed your previous question about the 7th st. home. What do you need? Just found some family last summer that had been there. Marianne
I have received different packets from the National Archives concerning pensions. Some of the packets have documents concerning final checks and some do not. I have recently received some pension information and it could be helpful if I knew where and when the last pension payment was made to this widow. Does anyone know where I could write to where the treasury dept would have that information? Thank you Bob Drennan
