I'm searching for a woman named Evelyn Kerns. She was a friend of my husband's grandmother, Caroline Andree Minder. I have several photos of Grandma and her and would like to share with her family if I can find them. They were friends in the 1920's and 1930's I assume from the photos. Kathy Walters Minder

Just an addition to Frank's email, the cemetery road is located behind the houses which are along side Chickenbristle Road. When you come to the house with the white fence, there is a road that turns to the left or south, take that road. It goes straight for a bit then turns and eventually you will come to a wooded area with a hill. The cemetery is on the hill. Last October the town of Rochester had a cemetery walk which included Motterville it was quite interesting. Hope this helps, Dan Dixon Historian - Auburn Business Association President - Wimmer Cemetery Association, Inc. President & Editor - Sangamon County Genealogical Society
Frank, Appreciate the email. In the 1980's professionals were hired to read and restore the stone. They couldn't. It's a shame, and odd in the since that his spouse's stone is right next to his and completely legible. ( I know you're wondering what each stone is made out of......I don't have a clue.) Anyway, I was extremely fortunate to be in touch with the lady who hired the professionals in the 1980's. She had found a descendent who, in the 1930's, copied down the info from the front and the back of the stone. She very kindly shared this with me. She's a peach. Again, I thank you for your suggestion, and I know what you're saying does work. But this stone is in really bad shape. If you looked at it today, you would not know it was inscribed. I only knew 'cause I'd read about an inscription in a book. Sue, Don't know if you have a photo on your PC of the stone mentioned or not but I have found that sometimes you can manipulate/enhance the image with options that come with many programs and pick up some things that seemed to be invisible to the naked eye. Sure there's Mottarville(check you spelling) Been there, it's hard to find, although I took the directions with me, I still had to ask the locals where it was located. The younger folks in Rochester kept trying to send me to South Fork Cem. finally I found an elderly man, who said, oh you mean that OLD cem. what do you want to go there for? (g) My ancester, Elias Williams, was the second burial there. There's a hugh family plot, but it's in sad shape. His stone has fallen over(happened in the 1980"s) and headstones are just stacked up and piled together. The newer section is better.Rev. Sam'l Wms.had a beautiful inscription (it's now illegible) inscribed on the back of his brothers (Elias) stone concerning him and the cemetery. I have copy..Too long to send to group.)
