Obit for his wife Mary Clinton Sheridan from 1888 does not list him as living. I believe he, Mary and a Gr-Gr Uncle could be buried in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield but with the fire that burned the records there I have no confirmation of that. Does anyone know where I would go to look? I have checked the County Clerk, and the Library (SVC) but with no date I would have to search the entire newspaper collection. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

A line-by-line search of Sangamon County IL census for 1880 revealed my greatgrandparents & children listed - Cotton Hill twp. ed 205, page 771 - The name was incorrectly entered as "TUBBY" instead of "TRIBBEY." Persistence finally paid off. Is there a way to correct this? Louise [email protected]

Surnames: Anderson, Bowen, Martin, McCollough, Rodger, Troxel, and Zeigler Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xg.2ADI/2540 Message Board Post: The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 11, 1905 P.M. TROXEL, one of Lucas County's oldest and most respected residents, died in Chariton at the home of his dauther, MRS. I.N. BOWEN, on Thursday, May 4, 1905, after a lingering illness. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. F.B. Palmer were held at the BOWEN residence on Saturday forenoon at 10 o'clock and the remains were then taken to Fairfield where at 3 p.m. the same day they were interred in Evergreen Cemetery. PERRY M. TROXEL was born in Breckenridge County, Kentucky, on January 3, 1819. When about four years of age he moved with his parents to Sangamon County, Ill., remaining there until 1840 when he came to Jefferson County, Iowa. In March, 1848, he came to this county, locating on a farm two miles north of Chariton where he remained until 1890 when he moved to this city. On November 27, 1845, he was united in marriage to AMERICA J. MARTIN, who died August 20, 1875. To this union were born ten children, three dying in infancy. One son, CHARLES F., died October 17, 1875, leaving a wife and two daughters, now residents of Fairfield, Iowa. One daughter, SAMANTHA E. RODGERS, died March 16, 1897, leaving a husband and a son and daughter. The daughter died August 4, 1903, and the son is now a resident of Oklahoma. The living are JAMES M.; ANNA ANDERSON and LIZZIE S. BOWEN of this place; MARY J. ZEIGLER of Linton, N.D.; and THOMAS J. of Prescott, Arizona. All but the last two were present at the last sad rites. MR. TROXEL was again married on November 17, 1887, to MRS. ELIZABETH MCCOLLOUGH who died on June 23, 1894. MR. TROXEL is also survived by one brother and one sister living in Kansas and two sisters living in Illinois. Deceased was a gentleman with the best of character and disposition -- kind, generous and true. He was a man of strict integrity, whom all were pleased to know and number as a friend. His death is sincerely mourned and to the sorrowing relatives the sympathy of the community is extended. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CARD OF THANKS To those who rendered aid and sympathy during the illness and death of the late P.M. TROXEL, the children desire to return their heartfelt thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert August 21, 2004 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm posted at this site with Nancee's permission.
