However, my grandfathers name, and his fathers name is Stanbery. My grandfather remembers that ChrisNeal was his Step grandfather (he always just called him Grandpa). He told me in the past few years he found out that Alsie had a son out of wedlock and that the Neal family gave him his name. This is were it get difficult: according to records Chris, Newton and Ruth were siblings. But on the 1920/1930 census Chris father was born in Ky, Ruths parents were born il (Alsie) and Newtons parents were born in United states (what does that mean). I would like to get a copy of Chris birth records and see what it states. Maybe his father was stanbery/mother Neal and for the times it was they just gave him Neal. Who knows.     2. Is anyone aware of a section of Sangamon and/or Christian Co IL that was missed in the 1870 Census? The following families are found in Sangamon and/or Christian Co IL in the 1860 and 1880 census, but I cannot find them anywhere in the US in 1870, and from the children's births they should have been in IL. I have used all soundex and possible/probable misspellings that I can think of and have even done first name only searches at Ancestry.com. A.John Maxfield wife Hester Ann Haines John G. Haines wife Mary Palmer John Moore wife Docia Haines Benjamin Haines 1st wife unknown (he married 1873 to cousin Nancy J. Haines) and migrated to OR by 1880 William Haines wife Bernilla Ashford (his cousin) Franklin Sanders/Saunders 2nd wife widow Nancy C. Haines Ashford (his cousin) and migrated to AR by 1880 Other members of this family (Haines, Snodgrass, Rape) are found in 1860 or 1880 Cotton Hill Twp Sangamon Co IL,; Springfield area of Sangamon Co IL; or Taylorsville, Christian Co IL. She was 78. Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Bloomington, Ill., she grew up in Springfield, Ill., attending Cathedral Grade School, Sacred Heart Academy and Springfield Junior College, where she earned an associate's degree in music. She married Noel J. Patton in Springfield on Sept. 6, 1952. The couple moved to Davis in June 1971 from San Mateo. A traveler, she had visited almost all of the U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean, Europe, Russia, the Balkan countries and the Middle East. Her last trip was to Kauai, a favorite destination. She was preceded in death by a brother, who died in infancy; her parents, Ellen and Willard O'Malley; and a sister, Marj Londrigan, all of Springfield, Ill. She is survived by her husband, Noel of Davis; brother, John O'Malley and his wife Ann of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Maureen Smith of Pennsylvania and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Eileen McNicholas of Georgia; son, James and his wife Cindy of Lake Tahoe; daughter, Mary Kay Patton and her husband Gary Nixon of Fair Oaks; and son, Terry and his wife Cindi of Woodland. He died November 19, 1931 in Springfield, Illinois. I do know that he had one son; a Homer Jr. I would like to know more about him, like if he had more children and his wife's dates.
