I am able to come to Springfield a couple of times a year and at least drive by the house; have also visited several times. A couple of years ago I was able to come down to help with the holiday decorating. My father visited the house as a boy with his mother. I will probably contact someone with the house foundation in the next few days. My big reason for wanting to contact descendents of some of the other brothers is to see if any of them have further information on the parents of the brothers. The Springfield Brinkerhoffs were 5 of seven brothers that grew up in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Overall I have lots of information on my Brinkerhoff line but am a bit sparse on the parents of the brothers. Thank you for your replies and keep enjoying the house! Anne in Aurora IL

    1. Show and Share Night With Sangamon Co. Genealogical Society
    2. Hello all: This Monday, 11 October 2004 beginning at 7:00pm, the Sangamon County Genealogical Society will host its monthly meeting. The meeting is held at Springfield's Public Library, Lincoln Library, in the Carnigee Room South. This month's topic is a Show and Share Night. We invite all attending to bring an item relating to their family history which can be viewed by all and share a story about the item at the meeting. Items such as photos, newspaper clippings, family group sheets, family trees and other items relating to family history research are among the ideas of what to bring Monday night. The stories can be told to the entire group or we can break off into smaller groups. If there are any "brick walls" we can help participants climb over, through new or trusted researching methods, we will work to lead people over easier paths. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please do bring an item so we can all share in this experience. We hope to see several people at this meeting. The schools also had 2 graduating classes, one in January (mine) and the other in June - depending on where your birthday fell. If it was after the first of Sept., you were in Jan. and that's when you started school.
