This is not in reference to the newspaper but I have found this site to be somewhat useful if those you are searching on fall into it's parameters. Lincoln Library (Springfield's public library) has microfilmed issues of the Sangamo Journal (1831-1849), the IL State Journal (formerly known as the Sangamo Journal) 1850-1974; the IL State Register 1831-1974; and the IL State Journal-Register 1974-current. There are a few other Springfield-only newspapers that are also on microfilm at the public library. All these newspapers, as well as over 5000 more newspapers from all over Illinois (on over 80,000 rolls) are also at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library (formerly the holdings of the IL State Historical Library) - also in Springfield. I research at both libraries, in addition to the IL State Archives, on almost a daily basis - so if I could be of any assistance, let me know offlist, ok? more info on my website, given below. I'm researching my ancestry, which I know is predominantly located in Springfield, Illinois. My father was named David Leo Dressendorfer, and his father was named Leo Bernard Dressendorfer. My father's mother was named Ethel Emily Denton. I don't know if Ethel's last name is her birth name or the name of the husband she had before marrying Leo Bernard Dressendorfer. I have not been able to pin down any other information on my ancestors beyond a few names that my father related to me once about his brother's and sister, all of which were from previous marriages of his mother. Those brothers and sisters are as follows: Tommy, Gus, Leo and Margie. The only one I ever knew was Aunt Margie, who died in Hayward, Wisconsin sometime around 1989-92 timeframe. I am finding more information lately, but if you want to contact me about sharing information between you and me about common ancestry, that would be great. My e-mail address is ! as follows: [email protected] In the subject line of a message to me via e-mail, please site Ancestry Research and i'll know you are seeking me for that. Hi Annette: I don't have the answers for you but would appreciate it if you could send me the pictures anyway. I have Campbell's in my line that were in Henry, Marshall County, IL and Springfield. These particular names aren't familiar but the odds are they are related and I'll find that out one day, so it would be nice to have pictures if you don't mind sending them. In 1900 she had Gladys Machette living with them. She was a niece age 13. 1900 ILL-Peoria-2WD-Peoria. Sarah's Mother ANNA NYE died Sept. 15,1883. In the Kansas City Morning Times, it said she was at the home of her son-in-law, Bernard Donnelly. The funeral would take place at their residence, 803 Locust Street and it was Private. Only friends & acquaintances of family invited. The services at the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Ave near Eleventh Street. The pastor was, Mr. D.M.SCHAFF. Is the 803 Locust St. address and the Church address in ILL? I also have a Sarah ANN DonnAlly as dyeing in 1923. F/W unk 0480052 1923-03-04. I have the NYE family back in about 1854 or a little later living in Springfield. These are just bits and pieces that I had from different sources and I put them together but this is ALL I can fine. I would like to get other census, city directory, or any other documented information I can before I send for the certs. I have no idea when Bernard died or if they had any children. Thanks for all your help and time. Millie

Perhaps someone has already done the research on these Smith's and I could illiminate some of them. Just hoping.

Hello, I am hoping someone will be able to help me fit my pieces together. I am looking for the James Nye family. The only real things I find have nothing to do with my line of that family, even when some of the names dates and locations seem to be the same. There is another Nye family. I have James and Anna Nye married in Ohio but moved to Sangam,ILL. They may have already had one child, Sarah born about 1848 in Ohio. The others should have been born between 1857-1864. Their names are : Edith Frances b: 1854 (Jan 8) Mary b: 1856 James b: 1857 Ella b: 1860 William b: 1861 Agnes b: 1862 Jefferson D. b: 1864 Later in life Sarah married a John Mundy that also seems to be from there. They may have married about 11/9/1868. I do know by 1870 the Nye family was in Jackson Co;MO. Thanks for your time and help. Millie
