Fred HAWKINS was from Saline County, IL. He moved to Pontiac, MI about 1930, He owned a grocery store in Pontiac, Michigan in the 1930s. He lost it when he extended credit to his customers who were out of work due to the depression and they were unable to repay him the money he had lent them. He them worked as a tool and die maker for a few years before W.W.II. He was told by his doctor that his health would be improved if he would move to a drier climate. He moved to New Mexico in the 1940s where he died, Jan. 19, 1947. Fred Hawkins had to have a lung removed because of lung cancer. The date you have for his death is correct. Ellen (JONES, HAWKINS?) took his body from Belen (NM) to his home in Harrisburg to be buried. He must have been born there also. Would like an obit. Any help appreciated. Fred was at one time m. to Virginia O. LeMonde of Harrisburg, Ruth Maxwell and maybe Ellen Jones. Ruth and Ellen might have been from Pontiac, Michigan. Thanks in adv. Bud in the Land of Lincoln
