I have been told my gggrandmother, Mary Lancaster, is buried in Gold hill cemetery but I did not find her name in the list of those resting there. Is it possible she just wasn't on the list? Does anyone know who would know about that cemetery? Leanna, It is very possible that Glen missed her tombstone, or that it had falled over, or that she may not have ever had one. There are a number of mistakes in Glen's compilations of the cemeteries. No one has ever spent the time to correct them. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Gold Hill was overgrown when he visited. It's almost impossible to reach during the summer. Sincerely, Jon Musgrave www.IllinoisHistory.com P.S. There are still a few copies of the Handbook of Old Gallatin County and Southeastern Illinois available at www.IllinoisHistory.com/Handbook.
Thank you! Is there a cemetery list or book someplace for that location? An official list of everyone there..or is it too small. What funeral homes would have been in the area at teh time? Would their records still be in tact??
