    3. Karen, Do you have any specific information about Martha Ann Ledford? Other researchers have her listed as a younger sister to John M., Solomon H. and the other Ledford children. Do you have any information along those lines...i.e. a death certificate that lists her father or maybe funeral records, etc.? 3. I don't know much about Martha Ann Ledford. She was born Mar1830 and died 28 April 1908 in Junction City, Geary Co. KS. She married Capt. William Roark 27 Mar 1861 (her 3rd, his 2nd). Martha's 1st marriage was to Benjamin Allen and they had at least one son, John Benjamin. Her 2nd marriage was to a Thomas Risinger. A probate record-- "Martha A. Roark vs William Roark, Box #4, File #63. Cause of separation: loss of affection between them. Case filed Nov 1874. Case disposed of May 1875. Date & place of marriage 27 Mar 1861 Saline Co IL. Children from this marriage: William S. Roark, Michael E. Roark, Charley A. Roark. William S being 12 years old on 26 Feb 1874. She claims that he suggested permanent separation because of a loss of affection between them; he wanting all the children removed from her custody; that he wants to have her banish her son by a previous marriage, John Benjamin Allen; that this child is the reason for his dissatisfaction at home; that William has left her for a room of hiw own. "He states in his cross bill that the cause of their misunder- standings is in the undutiful and disrespectable conduct of John Benjamin Allen, the son of Martha by a former husband; that J. B. Alle is a bad influence on their three small children and shouldn't be allowed their company; that J. B. Allen has married but lives only one mile from their home and continues to upset the family; that William Roark Sr. has sent his eldest son, William S. Roark, to Shawneetown to live with his (senior's) sister and go to school Nov. Term 1874. Injunction asked to be dropped because the witnesses, Samuel Bellah and Sarah, his wife, were not present; that they are the daughter and son-in-law to which William S. Roark was sent in Shawneetown." (Sarah was Capt. William's sister.) Martha applied for Capt. William's military pension in 1903. I don't have anything on her family--sorry. ----- Original Message ----- From: "LR Miller" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2003 12:03 PM Subject: [ILSALINE-L] Roark - Ledford > Karen, > > Do you have any specific information about Martha Ann Ledford?
