Kate, I also have a number of ancestors who were members of this church. From the info that I have found, the members who organized this church were once members of the Primitive ( also called Regular) Baptist Church. In several areas, former members of the Primitive Baptist Church, for one reason or another, formed their own church that followed that of the Missionary Baptist. Before 1840, these former members of Bethel Creek Primitive Baptist Church organized Union Baptist Church. The first church was located about 2 miles west of Raleigh. When Raleigh was named as the county seat of Saline County, the members moved the church location to Raleigh and changed the name to Raleigh Missionary Church. They built a log cabin on the same location as the present Baptist Church. A new church was built on this location in 1930. It is located within the city limits of Raleigh. I hope this helps you.
