Roddy- I have a couple of questions about your Roper line. Do you know who George Washington Roper's (who married Rachel Stockton) parents were? Is he related at all to the Ropers out of Giles and Lincoln Counties in Tennessee? In my Roper line I have two daughters Emily (1848-1884, my gg grandmother) and Martha Ollie Roper, who married two Edwards brothers and settled in Saline County, Illinois. Emily and Martha's parents were Joseph (1812-1862) and Nancy (Merrell) Roper. Any connections? Kate; From RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project: Global Search I found that George Washington Roper b. 1777,NC, d. 8 Sep 1866 at Carrier Mills, Saline, IL, Spouse: Rachel with George Washington Roper listed as his father and Blanche Leeper listed as his mother. I have not verified this but it was submitted by Pat Kittelt. I have no verification of my gggrandfather George Washington Roper and Rachel having been in TN during their migration to IL; however, there is some indication that they must have spent some time there. So far I have no record of any relatives there. I hope that this will help you.
