Sam, Alfred was a brother to my Nancy Pearl. They also had a brother named Cannon. I believe their parents to have been David Reed and wife "Shewn", who may have been Native American. When they first moved to Saline Co., Nancy Pearl Reed Randolph, husband William and children. Wm. died before the 1850 census; his will was probated in 1856. The following are some notes I made. Died on Saturday., 4 Jan 1896 and I believe is buried at Little Saline Cem., Stonefort, Il. Nancy was shown on 1850 Saline Co., Il. census aged 49, widowed living with her children: Andrew age 21, Levi, age 11, Malinda C., age 4, Matthew, age 17, Nancy, age 14, Oliver, age 12, Thomas, age 8, and William, 28; all born in Tn. except William who was born in N.C. Probate records in Saline Co., Il 1856 shows Nancy as widow and heir of William Randolph. Elizabeth's husband, Johnson Reed, is a bondsman. Date of William's death not given. 1860 Saline census shows Nancy is 72, Oliver 21, Thomas 17, (Malinda)Catherine 13. Levi is living next door. Malinda had m. James Machenry Launiuis 24 Aug 1876 in Franklin Co., Il. and Nancy is living with them on 1880 Saline census. James died 4 May 1891. Malinda later M. Charles Wesley Launius 13 Nov 1894 in Stonefort, Saline Co., Il. Both were sons of John Wesley and Eveline Rebecca Summers Launius. There was a John Reed on the Maury Co., NC 1800 census with 2 males 1-10, 1 male 45-60; 1 female 1-10, 1 female 26-45, and a David Reed in the Mecklinburg and Rowan Co. NC 1800 census. But Nancy and William and family qith 10 children as well as David Reed and others were in Bledsoe Co., Tn. in 1830. Not all the children were at home with her at the time of the 1850 census. In fact, I cannot find her son, my gr gr grandfather, Anderson Bird Randolph, in 1850. But he did marry in Franklin Co., in 1854, Susan V. Young from Tn. Anderson was murdered in during the Civil War, poisoned by a druggist in a dispute over the Civil War. I'd like to find out more about this, but can't seem to make any headway. Anderson and Susan had 4 children, one of which was my gr grandfather, Aquilla Dollins, who m. Eulalia King in Pope Co. They spent their life there until Aquilla died in 1932. They had 10 children. My grandmother, Anna Mae Randolph Evitts was one of them. Email me directly and let's compare some more notes.
