I have come across a land record for William Cotton who was granted land in 1838. Could this be the same William K. Cotton who was (husband of Polly Brooks) father of Hannah, Benjamin, Sarah, John Henry, and America Ellen? The time is the question. Was he doing something in Vermilion County in 1838? Could he have planned on moving to White County or Saline County?
