    2. Helen V. Gegg, 72, diedSunday, June 18, 2006, at her daughter’s residence in Stonefort, Ill. She was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Wood River, the daughter of the late George and Zeebe (Holcomb) Slawson. She married Thomas E. Gegg on August 16, 1951. He died in 1972. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Annie and Paul Sheff of Stonefort, Delores Scott and Darlene and Joseph Kiefer, all of Alton; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Tina Gegg of Alton; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Slawson of Tennessee; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Cathy Slawson of South Carolina. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda K. Gegg; two grandsons; and a granddaughter. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elias-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Alton. Inurnment will be at a later date at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. ©The Telegraph 2006
