    3. Perhaps some worthless info on the Gallatin-Saline Cos. Karnes: John L. Karnes, in the late 1800s was a prosperous farmer on the Elba road just East of the the Saline Co. line. According to my notes, an older dau marred a Melvin Overton and lived near Oak Grove Church, A younger son, John Marshal Karrnes was an Attorney in the East St. Louis area. . Will Karnes was a Saline Co.rural school teacher in 1928 and is buried w his wife in Wesley Chapel Cemetery just west of the Gall,-Salin Cos.
