http://www.cityofharrisburgillinois.com/businessprospects.htm The City of Harrisburg is extremely fortunate in that they own 2 side channel reservoirs, each with approximate surface area of 40 acres, located in the Northeast quadrant of the City of Harrisburg. These side channel reservoirs were built as side channel reservoirs in the 1940's by Central Illinois Public Service Co. which operated the water distribution system. The side channel reservoirs previously were used to pump water from the river into those reservoirs prior to treatment and distribution to the residents of Harrisburg.
