    1. [ILSALINE] Land data needed - Rice Cemetery - Burials
    2. Can anyone trace the ownership of this piece of land from 1815-1950 aprx NE 1/4 SW 1/4 Sec 16 T9S R7E This is the Rice Cemetery. I had originally thought that it was Baker land, but I find that it wasn't. Is it possible to follow a deed back from present if it has not been registered with the county ? ie Can it be signed off and just presented to the new owner, sorta like a car title (sometimes snicker), ie possession makes you the owner ? I have 2 photos (Taken by Becky Schmook 1985 - THANK YOU !!!!!! ) one of Edmond Baker jnr & one of his son Benjamin F Baker (m Martha J Martin in 1874, he d 1876 ANY CHILDREN ????) I did not see these stones there when I came to the conference at SIU. I DID notice a pile of what I thought was stone in a corner tho, but was unable to investigate. Hindsight, it looked like a pile of smashed tombstones that had been thrown in a pile. Can anyone check in that ??? I was once told that the first burial there was a negro. Does anyone know for certain and aprx what time period ? I believe that it would have been a PUMPHREY, as Edmund was appointed a conservator for the children about 1838 or so (Gallatin Co). It is possible that Sarah Ann Johnson Baker w/o Edmund Jr may also be in Rice Cemetery, possibly on the same stone with Edmund. It is possible that Edmund Baker Snr d 1852 & m2 Elizabeth Unknown d 1855 may akso be there. William s/o E & m2 E d 1847 ANY other thought are appreciated. Has anyone else found anything on anybody lately ?? It's been QUIET. VERY QUIET out here the last few months. I had to go to Hamilton and read their stuff ! lol Web site seems to have had virtually no activity in the last couple of years. I know that Jon is a very busy fellow, perhaps someone that knows what they are doing could volunteer to help him with it ? This is nothing against him as he has done a remarkable job and is a very interesting writer. I don't know enough about web sites to do any of it myself, but would be happy to transpose data or what ever else I could do. We could add census's to the sight maybe. HOW about trying to reconstruct the 1890 census for Saline Co ???? That would be really awesome and would probably help alot of people. How about Obits from the early newspapers ? And I DON'T mean just the ones that 'concern' your tree. How about one or two above & below or something. Just some rambling thots, hope they help !
