Smith married Mary Alice Wise b; 14 May 1852 in New Orleans, LA. d; 27 Nov 1932 Gowen, Latimar Co., OK. m; 10 Aug. 1873 @ Shaneetown, Gallatin Co., ILL. Apparently Mary and her siblings lived in an orphanage in Gallatin Co., ILL. – she was 7th day advent until after marriage she became Pentecostal. 1880 census James (along with his family) was a farmer in Plainview tws. Saline Co., ILL. I have found that “Joseph, Jacob, Jean” and “Mary, Francis” are the same two people, I’m not sure why they had changed their names. From family accounts when Jean Wise was buried they spelled his name Wiess. Your Mary A Wise 1852 in LA with German ancestry 2. Mary A Wise bor abt 1852/53 IL she married John H Bramlet 4/apr 1876 Saline Co... Joyce, The Mary A. Wise was born 22 Dec 1850 and died 24 Apr 1914 based on cemetery reading. The only Mary in the census records that makes since was the child of a Robert C. Wise and his wife Lucinda. You can find this family together in the 1860 census T9R6E P119 Harrisburg PO along with Will H 18, Martha J. 16, Spencer 13, Mary A. 10, and Sarah E. 6 In the 1870 census you will find that Lucinda is now a widow with Mary 20, Sarah 16 and a Hester age 8.
