Richey, 78, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at 12:05 a.m. at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Helen was born Jan. 1, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Pearl (Motsinger) Etherton in Crab Orchard. She married Charles (Fred) Richey June 11, 1950, in Crab Orchard and they have shared over 57 years of marriage. Fred survives in Pittsburg. Helen was a member of Center Baptist Church in Crab Orchard. Helen had been a school teacher since 1950 and taught at Norris City, Marion and Crab Orchard. She retired from Southern Illinois University where she had taught accounting for 15 years. She was a member of the SIU Alumni Association. Helen is survived by her husband Fred of Pittsburg; children and grandchildren; Dan and Pam Richey and their children, Sybil and William Richey,Tom and Cheryl Richey and their children Sarah and David Richey and Gregory and Rachel Conte, Polly and Mark Brinker and their children Jennifer Sharbono, Kurt, Melissa and Heather Brinker; brother, Harry Etherton of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her Parents and four sisters, Flo Dean Jenkins, Sybil Wilson, Mildred Rogers and Pauline Beers. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at 11a.m. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Sam White officiating. Burial will follow in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home & Family Services. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
