The following information has been added to the Gallatin Co., ILGenWeb page at www.rootsweb.com/~ilgalla2/revlowrymarriages.html Rev. Lowry Marriages By JON MUSGRAVE Gallatin Co. ILGenWeb Coordinator Someone married your ancestors. If your ancestors' marriage took place in Hardin or Gallatin Counties in the early 20th Century, the Rev. Jackson M. Lowry may have performed the ceremony. Lowry's great-great-grandson, Jerry Smith, recently transcribed a number of marriages recorded by the Rev. Lowry in his journals. Below is a transcription Mr. Smith found in some of his grandfather's things. He said he double checked all of the spellings and dates. Please note: No. 55 is missing from the manuscript he has. According to Mr. Smith, Rev. Lowry was a Baptist minister near Shawneetown and Cave-in-Rock for much of his life. He was born on Nov. 10, 1857, and died on May 11, 1949. Smith's family records indicate he lived in Hardin, Gallatin, Jackson and Randolph counties. According to some of his writings, he also lived in Bertrand, Mo., from time to time in the 1880s.
