Merry Christmas Saline's Lists, Will you help me look up in 1870 Saline County Census, Household #54 in Long Branch Township? I will appreciated so much if you can help me. In the household is: Susaner BOYLE, age 47, born in Illinois, her daughter Julia A. BOYD, age 18, her sons, Hiram BOYD, age 14, William BOYD, age 12. I think that is all who were living with her; could be 2 others children of Susaner BOYLE. I am trying to determine where Julia A., Hiram, William BOYD is born at. Will you look and see if it say "Arkansas"? For Julia A. Boyd is my great great grandmother. Her mother, Malissa Susannah BRADEN married to Levi BOYD in March 24, 1842 in Gallatin County, Illinois. This is their children: Elizabeth J. Boyd, born 1843 in Illinois John A. Boyd, born 1849 in Illinois Thomas Boyd, born 1846 in Illinois James A. Boyd, born January 23, 1845 in Illinois; died August 30, 1862 (buried in Bethel Cemetery in Saline County) Julia A. Boyd, born November 10, 1851 in Greene County, Arkansas (buried in Walpole Cemetery, Hamilton County, IL.) Hiram Boyd, born 1856 in Arkansas William Boyd, born 1858 in Arkansas In 1860, the father, Levi BOYD, (he was born abt. 1824) had died at the age of 34 from consumption in Greene County, Arkansas. Then somewhere Malissa Susanna Braden Boyd married to unknown BOYLE, possible his name is John. Do not know where they got married at. In 1850 and 1860 Arkansas Census, Levi and Susanna Boyd was there. Sometime after 1860, Susanna Boyd had moved her family back to Saline County, Illinois for them to be in 1870 Census in Illinois. Susanna Braden's parents are James Braden and Unicy Smith. But the most important to me is what did it say where Julia A., Hiram, and William Boyd was born at? If they were born in Arkansas, then it is my family. Will you help me? God bless you and have a very Merry Christmas. Teresa from Oklahoma
Teresa, In the copy of the 1870 Census that I have, it shows all of the persons residing in this household have Illinois as their place of birth. The ages of everyone match the ages you have. Could be the census taker may have made an error in the birthplace. It did happen from time to time. Hope this is of some help to you. Best wishes in your research and Merry Christmas, Barbara James Young wrote: > Merry Christmas Saline's Lists, > Will you help me look up in 1870 Saline County Census, Household #54 in Long Branch Township? There is reference to Unicey A. (Braden) Durham as the wife of Isham P. Durham and their son B.A. Durham in the "Five County History" (Saline Co. ) 1887. Re: Unicey being born in Saline Co. in 1835.. Multiple listings of Boyles, Boyds, Bradens in Hamilton, Gallatin and Saline Co. I did not find references to birthplaces, at least at first glance..

Re: Unicey being born in Saline Co. in 1835.. I believe this is Unicey A. "Nicy" BRADEN the d/o James BRADEN & Unicey SMITH. Also, their son, re: B. A., I believe is Bluford A. DURHAM born 1855 in Saline. He was a teacher and went to Crescent City Commercial College, Evansville, IN. He married 12 Mar. 1878 in Saline Co to Sarah A. "Sallie" JACKSON born 1856 Scott Co., MS., d/o M. M. JACKSON and Sarah. Bluford had a brother named Robert A. Durham born 1859 in probly Saline, who married 24 July 1879 Saline Co to Nancy E. SHAW. Isham P. Durham born 5 May 1835 Saline Co.... I have no proof of this, but I believe that Isham is a s/o Ira Durham (b. 1804 Warren Co., TN or NC, d. 1870 Saline Co) & Maria Carter b. 1806 TN, d. 1863 in Saline?). I believe the 5 county history states that Ira DURHAM was a s/o James Durham born abt 1759 and d. 1835, a native of VA. It's possible that Ira had a brother named Daniel b. abt. 1792 NC. I believe that Ira had at least 7 children, but you will need to document this. They are as follows... William A., b. abt 1830 IL, married 6 Jul 1849 Saline Co to Sarah Ann Ragsdale b. abt 1832 KY (6 children)... Asahel W., b. 1832 in Gallatin (now saline), married 18 Dec 1851 Saline Co to Melvina E. Coffey. She died 18 July 1854, he then married Margaret Webb 15 Apr 1858 in Franklin Co IL... one child by 1st, and 3 by 2nd. He went to Allen Co., KS for a couple years in 1858 and returned. In Saline Co he was a Teacher, Carpenter, Deputy Sherriff, and Mayor of Harrisburg. He also established the "Excelsior Hotel" with partner, J. Q. Norman in Saline. I believe there is a picture of Asahel on Carol Yarbrough's Hamilton Co web site... Isham P. (above) James M., b. abt 1837 IL (died bef 1887), married 10 Sept 1857 Saline Co to Eliza Ellen Braden b. abt 1840 IL ( I believe her to be the d/o James Braden & Unicy Smith). 1 child... Riley C., b. abt 1840 IL (died bef 1887) Christopher C., b. abt 1842 IL (died bef 1887) Serena Paradine, b. abt 1848 IL, married to David Lyon. Merry Christmas.. Best Regards, Trev
