Bill, I found him on Page 2 of Somerset Pct., 9-10 June by Allen B. Coffee, Enumerator in Dwelling 14: Fears, Joseph H., White, Male. age 27, Married, Farmer, Born AL as were both parents Rebecca, White, Female, Age 27, Married, Keeping house, born AL, birthplace of father unknown, mother's birthplace, AL George W., White, Male, aged 7, Born AL as were both parents Henry A., White, Male, aged 5, Born in IL., both parents born in AL Benjamin M., White , Male, aged 3, born in IL, both parents born in AL Lorenzo D., white, Male, 2/12 (born in March that year), born IL, both parents born AL All children are listed as sons of the head of the household and Rebecca is listed as his wife. I could not find him as head of a household in the Saline County 1860 Census. I did find a John Hampton aged 15 living with Ed and Catharne Hampton in Harrisburg. Sorry I didn't have better news.
