Darrell, Thank you for your response. I thought that is where the Fort was located, but couldn't figure how from TN to So. IL the firing could be heard. Perhaps the IL Historical Society wanted to spice the story, since you think of all the timber during that era. Those cannon balls must have been more powerful than we ever imagined. Thank, Linda
