Could anyone tell me where Fort Donelson was located between Marion, IL and Harrisburg. According to the Journal of IL. State Historical Society, April 1934, Vol. 17, #1, The owner of the carding mill in Marion was "bribed" with 10 free acres to move his mill from Marion to Harrisburg and as his family traveled from Marion to Harrisburg, they traveled during the battle at Fort Donelson hearing the guns.
