Folks, I hate to butt in here. I just wanted to say I have Baker kin in Pope county by the name of Isaac Baker, who married Sarah Ann M. Griffin on 10 Jan 1877. I have also a friend that lives in West Virginia, who has Baker family buried here in Illinois somewhere around north of Eldorado and has connections to this area. If any of this rings a bell, please let me know. The Isaac Baker, of whom I mentioned, I don't know anything about his family etc. I do know they had at least two children, both died young in age and is buried in my family cemetery, The Griffin cemetery, near Bell Smith Springs, Pope County. Thanks. Jim At 01:39 AM 2/23/01 -0500, you wrote: >sob ......... James.... Would your friend (in W.V.) have a need for the biographies of the various Bakers listed in the 1923 History of W.V. There are several including Charles G. Baker, E.Reese Baker, George C. Baker, John M. Baker, Robert W. Baker and William Baker...some are very extensive histories of their families. You are welcome to contact me privately and I will be glad to extract the information if needed. I have the three volume history the first volume is the "Historical" written by J.M. Callahan and the other two volumes are biographies of people.
James: The only cementery that is north of town, almost north, is Wolf Creek, between Eldorado and Raleigh. It is an old one and maybe what you are referring to. Hope so.
