Hello, Wonder if anyone can answer a question for me. Are there any funeral homes in Eldorado/Texas City that were around in 1882? If so any chance they might still have records from that long ago? If a funeral home goes out of business are they required to file their records somewhere or keep them for a certain amount of time? Thanks for any help! Melinda, Having talked to a friend of mine who owns a funeral home (here in Michigan) about the same question the answer I received from him was that the records are personal property of that funeral home and if he sells or whatever he may leave them there if he wants or keep or destroy them as he wishes. I personally would think the state would want copies to keep somewhere. Norm
