    3. Hi list, I am looking for the grave of David Leverett. He died Oct 11, 1921 in Clay Co. AR and was buried in Carrier Mills according to AR news article. I search one cemetery at Carrier Mills with no luck. I am wondering if there is more than one cementery in that town. Does anyone know if the two cementeries have been read and put onto paper anywhere or are they on the computer somewhere? I'm sure he and some other Leverett's are buried in Saline Co., I just can't find any of them. All suggestions welcomed. Thanks. Doug

It appears that the newspaper would be a source of a great deal of information about many people and happenings. Joan Joan, newspapers are a great source of information. The H-E has been published in Golconda since, well as Uncle T. SCOTT said the Civil War, I just sent in my subscription last week. Several people have abstracted it from time to time. Bonnie Barton SKAGGS did three volumes from Dec 1917 - Dec 1921; Faye Morris BOWMAN did Obits 1926-27 & Obits & News 1928. I know the Golconda library has it on micro-film and as Susan said your library can order it or any others from the State. The ones I shared are some I gathered over the years. 3. Barbara Brown, Circuit Clerk of the Randolph County Court, gave me instruction today about information that cannot be disseminated by researchers. Anything pertaining to a juvenile, an adoption or anything about a person's mental health information in the court system CANNOT be sent to a person requesting it. This is very important to us all. If anyone does this without regard to this request from the court systems, we will not be able to do research as freely as we do now. For myself, I will voluntarily comply with this request. I think it is a good idea and the court insists on it. Velda Wittenbrink Moore vlchas@mindspring.com http://www.larrett.com/velda/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilrcgs/

    2. The newspaper was located in the town of Golconda. The Herald-Enterprise is one of the oldest papers in the state. The newspaper is available on microfilm. If you live in Illinois, see if your local library can get the years that you are interested in through interlibrary loan. Susan

    1. SHORT, WARINER OR WARREN
    2. Charlotte E Flock
    3. I'm looking for a marriage record of William B. Short, his middle name could be Boyd married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. His only child, Charles McPherson Short's death certificate mentions his parents. The close that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place him on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. I have already check the IRA site and could find nothing. Charlotte

    1. Re: [ILSALINE-L] Probate records
    2. The County Clerk of Saline County probably can locate this record. 10 W. Poplar St., Harrisburg, IL 62946. Or phone 618-253-8197. Give them the box number of the probate file if it is given in the book. I know they have records as early as 1855. Anything older than 1847 will be in Gallatin County.,

    3. Hi! If you need to check probate records, the best thing to do is go to a library that has access to the LDS microfilms. Before you go in, go to Family Search, click on Library, then click on Search the catalog. Then click on place search, then enter Saline, and Illinois. To rent the microfilm costs $6.00 for one month.
