Hello all, I need to connect with someone from the descendents of Andrew J ARNOLD (b 1828 TN) and Margaret MITCHELL (b 1828 IL, possibly Jefferson County). My question is about Margaret's surname. My g-grandmother, Patsey Jane ARNOLD (b 1863), daughter of Andrew and Margaret, lists her mother's maiden name as MITCHELL. Other sources list her as Margaret RUSSELL, married to Andrew J ARNOLD in Gallatin Co IL 27 May 1847. The family appears in census records - 1850 Saline County, Stonefort, 1860 Saline County, South America P.O., 1870 Franklin County, Frankfort P.O, and 1880 Williamson County, Marion Twp. Thanks to the good works of those on these lists, I have now learned there are two similarly named cemeteries as follows: Ebenezer Cemetery in Saline County and Ebenezer-Hall Cemetery in Union County Can any of you verify whether either of these have had an "inventory" taken? If so, perhaps someone would be willing to provide a listing of all the HENDERSONs and others in "their" plots? I live far away and can not visit for some time. Also, if anyone knows an address for the sexton for both of these. I would be most grateful. Dear Jane, Thanks for the clarification of the County (Saline) of the Ebenezer Cemetery. Sorry, I can not remember why I remember it as Ebenezer-Hall--my notes from my visit of a few years back are buried deep as I'm embarking on a wall paper removal project at present. Yuk!!! Here is what I recall: A rather substantial cemetery for such a rural area (that I clearly recall)--perhaps off of a narrow paved or gravel road--and (I'm almost certain) a small (old) church on the grounds (but I could be wrong on that one). When I visited, while I took substantial notes on grave locations, I did not comprehend the extent of names that I should have been looking for--alas . . . now I know more. If only I could make another visit and/or contact the sexton . . . (It was definitely NOT small plots on a family farm--unless those farm plots grew into a full fledged cemetery. So, does this sound like the one off Route 34? I would love to have a full "inventory" of those resting there. And, an idea of how/who to contact in possession of those records. Joyce, The Mary A. Wise was born 22 Dec 1850 and died 24 Apr 1914 based on cemetery reading. The only Mary in the census records that makes since was the child of a Robert C. Wise and his wife Lucinda. You can find this family together in the 1860 census T9R6E P119 Harrisburg PO along with Will H 18, Martha J. 16, Spencer 13, Mary A. 10, and Sarah E. 6 In the 1870 census you will find that Lucinda is now a widow with Mary 20, Sarah 16 and a Hester age 8. Ebenezer Cemetery is in Saline Co. I have never heard it called Hall Cemetery but it could be. It is off route 34 at the little place called Rileyville. No town there anymore but I do think there is a sign on the Highway. It is about 5 miles west of Galatia, IL. There is a cemetery called Hall Town cemetery that is East of Rileyville on the farm that I grew up on, owned for many years by my dad, Olen Tate. Could that be the Hall Cemetery you are refering to?? Looking for descendents of John C. and Sadie Lambert Murphy. Lemuel Murphy. Formerly of Harrisburg. Anna Murphy Read/Reed? her husband was George they had a son George Arthur. married a Ruth Reeder. Lemuel and Anna were siblings and had brothers Arphy C. Anna and Arphy lived in Eldorado, as did John and Sadie. Walter, another brother..also lived with Sadie until he married Noma Adamson.
