    2. Hate to tell you that we are shirtsleeves. Sorry about that. Don't have my stuff in front of me tho. Has everyone just deserted this county or what ? NOTHING to talk about ? You guys can pick on me if that will give ya something to write about. chuckle. I hate to say it, but, HAMILTON co has been more active. For anyone who cares/wonders/etc it is now almost certain that Edmund 1 Baker b 1776 was the son of Absolom Baker who bought land in Gallatin Co in 1814 and then moved to Madison Co Ill and dc 1833. This is almost certainly a part of the Maurice/Morris Baker bc1640 England line. 3. Galatia Library also has the JOHN TATE Book as does Willard Library in Evansville. I have a copy and was involved very much in the writing of it. I don't think any of the people mentioned by Fred Smith are in it. I also don't think any of the people mentioned are in the TATE'S CHAPEL Cem. I looked through my book on it and there are very few Karnes, no REEDERS and the Elizabeth TAte metioned is not buried there. Fred, who in particular are you looking for at the TATES CHAPEL CEMETERY?? 3. Fred Smith, I would suggest you contact the Galatia Library at 618-268-9200. They have a small genealogical section AND they can put in contact with the local historian - a Virginia Blackburn. Also, are you aware of the book on John Tate's family and descendants. It is a big red book with about 800 pages. I cannot remember the exact title, but the Saline County Genealogical Society, in Harrisburg, has a copy. I have some Pembertons who married Tates and Karnes. If you are there on the weekend, the Harrisburg library is open on Sundays and they have a nice selection of materials. 3. Hi, Fred, I noticed your message this morning, and want to send a brief reply. We've communicated before, but if we can be of any help just let me know. We have about 50 entries for the Reeders, in our database of Illinois Primitive Baptists, and have a few entries for the surnames of Karnes and Tates. Not all, I'm sure, since we have not obtained all the records of all the churches in those counties, but at least we have part of the names. I see we also have obituaries of a few of them in our obituaries index. Best wishes in your search. 3. Hi, my name is Fred Smith. I just joined your group as I ready myself for a genealogy visit to your county. I will be looking for information on my Tate, Reeder and Karnes families. It is likely that they were Primitive Baptist Church members. I know that the Reeder family were Primitive Baptist while in Illinois. My main hope is to find the parents of Elizabeth Tate who married John Karnes (Carns, Karns) abt 1827. There first know child was Mary Ann born 2/19/1828 in Gallaatin Co. Illinois. I would guess that Elizabeth was born sometime after 1800. I belive my line through Saline County includes:Jacob Karnes and his wife Anna, Their son John Karnes b abt 1800 married Elizabeth Tate. They had 4 children; Mary Ann b 1828, Artemissa b 1832, Joseph G. b 1835 and my great-great grandmother Celia Atway Karnes. Celia married Nathan Reeder on August 22, 1865 in Saline Co. Nathan's father Joshua Reeder, along with many of his family, including his sons Nathan and Thomas moved to Kansas in the early 1870's. I expect to visit the Tate Chapel Cemetery, and some local libraries. Any information the group has on these families would be helpful. fred smith wichita, ks __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
