I would be interested in knowing the directions/location of the Southeastern Illinois College, and the Saline County Genealogical Society Library. Could someone tell me again which courthouses will be open on Saturday, and which ones will be open on Sunday? Thank you. Diane
Saline, Gallatin, Hardin, Pope, Hamilton and White Counties will all have representatives and tables set up at the genealogy event scheduled for Southeastern Illinois College this weekend. I hope everyone can attend. Ron Nelson's program Saturday evening promises to be excellent as well.
Steve, Belle Rive is 44 miles from Harrisburg. Take US45 from Harrisburg to Eldorado. At Eldorado turn North on State Route 142 and follow it until you reach Belle Rive. It is a little more than halfway between McLeansboro and Mt.Vernon. You will go through much of Hamilton Co and pass thru the towns of Broughton, Dale, McLeansboro, Delafield, Dahlgren, and then Belle Rive. Have a safe journey from WV. Hi Earnie-- You mentioned that your late sister was married to a Cernkovich from JCity. I remember a Steve Cernkovich. Was this the same family? Bermuda Dunes is a tiny speck of sand in between Palm Desert and Indio, CA. Our Valley is mostly known for Palm Springs--which is about 25 miles from where I live. If you are a golfer, we live on one of the course that the Bob Hope is played on each year. Our climate is probably close to yours. I have recently been reading Land Between the Rivers (The Southern Illinois Country) printed by SIU press. If you get a chance, I know you would enjoy reading it. Have a good week. It's always possible. TB was very common and many people died from it. If you'll send me the name and a time frame I can check the index of the pauper book.
