    2. Hi, I tried to skim thru the paperwork that I have quickly, and although my GGGG-Grandpa's name was also Robert Beasley, I don't think it was the same man as your Ernest Robert. My GGGG- Grandpa married a Sarah Cunningham on July 2 1829. They had nine children, but I can't seem to find any of the names you mentioned. I will be sure to keep your names copied though, and if I come across any of them, will send the information right out to you ! Good Luck, Nova

    2. Hi Mr. Musgrave, Thank you for writing ! I would be very happy to have my Grandpa's information shared with anyone who is interested in reading it, but as it is all handwritten by him, could you still use it? I'd be glad to send you copies of what I have thru the mail. He researched the family for many years ( before the internet !!!), so he spent lot's of time looking thru old records, and patiently waiting for people to write back to him thru the regular mail !!! I know he would be extremely proud to have his family history posted so others could see it. He also wrote stories about things that happened to him when he was a little boy, and about the different Aunts and Uncles, their personalities, etc. If you would want to sift thru the papers ( there are about ten sheets I believe), to see if there is anything of interest, I'll gladly send them to you. Again, thanks for your interest, Nova

    3. Bingo! The words Smith County, Tennessee rang a bell! My gg-grandfather, George Thompson Armistead (1824-1899), along with his family and brother, Joseph Armistead, left Smith County, TN by wagon train in 1867 and came to southern Illinois. I understand there were quite a few settlers in this wagon train. Does anyone have any more information? Nick Questell Researching the Questel, Questell and Armistead family lines.

    3. Nova, I have not done any research on the BEASLEY's, but I have some on a lateral branch of my TROUTT tree. My dad's sister, Mabel TROUTT, married Ernest Robert BEASLEY in 1918 in or near Carrier Mills. 'Uncle Earn' was born in 1896 and died around 1981. His obituary says that his parents were Charles and Winnie (MOFIELD) BEASLEY. It also mentions surviving half brother Clyde BEASLEY and half sisters Mrs. Marie STEVENSON and Mrs. Rita POLLACK. The obit. states that brothers Walter and Fred and sister Mrs. Bessie CURTNER preceded him in death. If your BEASLEY information relates to this family, I would be interested in having a copy. Thank you for the offer. 2. Steve, excuse me for butting in but names are my hobby. Names are funny. They often don't always get attached because of owners. At some point, right or wrong, someone put the Rice name on and time will tell if it sticks. Change it to Baker if you can, but usage is the determining factor. Ernie Heltsley

    2. My point was, this land was part of one of the original tracts of land that Edmund Baker bought c 1831 or so. It is also VERY close to what ended up being the 'Family" farmstead. It just made me wonder if this section ever ended up being OWNED BY a Rice. Hence RICE CEMETERY instead of BAKER. best steve ps we still own some mineral rights in that area
