Faith, I will check tomorrow (or soon) and see if I have anything about him. I am pretty sure your information given is correct. I know we do not have his actual "papers" (such as a journal, or diary, or writings, etc., if that is what you mean). His name would appear in minutes of the Muddy River Association which we have, (possibly a resolution of respect at the time of his death, etc.) Is there something in particular you wish to know? Hi Robert, Wonder if you could help me? I would love to have information on James Tate, who family history says was a circuit rider for the Primitive Baptist Church for 31 years, as well as a farmer and merchant. He is buried at Rector Cemetery, along with other of his family members, in Hamilton County, IL. He was born October 16, 1827 in TN and died October 25, 1881 in Hamilton County. If my information is correct, is there any way to get a copy of his records as a minister? Thanking you in advance, Faith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert L Webb" <bwebb9@juno.com> To: <ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 07, 2000 17:53 Subject: Re: [ILSALINE-L] Greetings > Friends, > Earlier today I subscribed to this forum, so I have no knowledge of > what has been or is being discussed here, and hence, if I say anything > which seems to be an intrusion, please pardon me. Mike Smith, Is your family from Saline Co. or Pope Co.? Mine is from Pope Co. Donna Smith
Friends, Earlier today I subscribed to this forum, so I have no knowledge of what has been or is being discussed here, and hence, if I say anything which seems to be an intrusion, please pardon me. Will just say that my Webb family came to Illinois before it was a state, and I am a sixth generation Primitive Baptist, of which four generations (myself included) have been ministers, and I have been untiringly interested in church history since age 18, and now conduct a religious library which has records of our churches all over Illinois and a dozen other states, and am writing a book on the same subject. Have just recently obtained the records of the Grand Pier church in Pope Co., and part of the records of Big Creek church which existed from 1806-1837 in what is now Hardin Co. I hope to obtain a few more records of Saline Co. PBC's. I purchased the Family Tree Maker Census Index several months ago. It can help you locate your ancesters. The exact name of the CD's are "Family Tree Maker's Family Archives United States Census Bundle 1607-1880". It is just an Index only. It consists of 11 CD-ROM's. The price was $199. It can be accessed directly from the Family Tree Maker (FTM) Genealogy program. You use the last icon shown along the top of the Genealogy program, or you can get special software that alows you to access the discs. An small instruction book comes with the set. If you are looking for a name, as James Price, you would type in Price, James and it will list all James Prices in the country. You go down to say Illinois and check the counties where you might be interested. It shows the state and counties of all James Prices, say for 1840. The discs are broken down by Censes Year, but cover the complete US. FTM's Phone number is 1-800-548-1806, or on line at WWW.FamilyTreeMaker.com/book Hal Ledbetter Livingston TX -----Original Message----- From: FreckleToes@cs.com [mailto:FreckleToes@cs.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 07, 2000 3:05 AM To: ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILSALINE-L] re: FTM Census index Saw the post where a FTM census index was mentioned. In the 1840 Gallatin County (Saline County was formed from the western half of Gallatin County in 1847) Census there are three PRICE families: Page 20, Line 6: PRICE, Nimrod, Agr, Males: 1 20-30 Females: 1 0-5, 1 20-30 Page 42, Line 21: PRICE, David, Agr, Males: 1 5-10, 2 10-15, 1 60-70 Females: 1 0-5, 1 5-10, 1 10-15, 1 16-20, 1 40-50 Page 60, Line 20: PRICE, Eli, Agr, Males: 1 20-30 Females: 1 15-20. The 1840 Gallatin County Census is available online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/il/gallatin/1840/. From the marriage index of Illinois: PRICE, Eli W. m. EDWARDS, Margaret Ann, White Co., Jul 1840. PRICE, Nimrod m. MCDONALD, Sarah, Jefferson Co., 9 Mar 1837. PRICE, David m. MULICAN, Elizabeth, Bond Co., 12 Aug 1829. The marriage index is available online at http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage. The first two marriages look like good matches to the Census, questionable on the third marriage, but the only one showing before 1840. The family of David PRICE seems to be your best bet for three male children born before 1840. Hope this helps, Mike Smith - AZ -----Original Message----- From: C D Church & S McAleer [mailto:chasd@casco.net] Sent: Monday, November 06, 2000 1:19 PM To: ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILSALINE-L] 1840 Census Look Up Why Would Any Woman Vote for George W. >>>Anyone else researching SUMMERS & PRICE? >>>Eliza 'Lo' SUMMERS married David PRICE 11 Jul 1847 in Gallatin Co. ************************************************* Hi Susan... I have Summers and Price in my maternal grandmother's line, but I haven't been able to connect my families with the one you posted. My connection with the Summers family is Margaret Anne (Peggy) Summers, b. abt. 1816, Sumner County, TN; d. June 23, 1903, Hardin County, IL. She married William Frailey; their daughter Clarissa is my great-greatgrandmother. Clarissa Frailey married Robert Henry Price, son of Giles W. Price and Jemima Smith of Muhlenberg County, KY. According to research that was shared with one of my cousins, Peggy Summers was the daughter of Alexander Summers, Sr., b. July 18, 1793, Salisbury District, Guilford Co., North Carolina, d. January 01, 1867, and Clarissa M. Lilly, b. December 31, 1796, Sumner County, TN; d. September 15, 1885; Franklin County, IL. Do you have parents' names for either Eliza or David? Regards, Lanora
I have a FTM Census index. I checked for 1840. I found a David Price at Cain Creek in Gallatin Co, and a David in Bond Co Illinois. A James Price was found in McLean, Pike, Vermilion and White Counties. No Lofton Price was found. I did find a Larkin Price in Wayne Co, Illinois. Hope this helps Hal Ledbetter Livingston TX -----Original Message----- From: C D Church & S McAleer [mailto:chasd@casco.net] Sent: Monday, November 06, 2000 12:19 PM To: ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILSALINE-L] 1840 Census Look Up Why Would Any Woman Vote for George W. Some way I deleted a reply on James barter. Joe Barter
My apologies to the List for inadvertently including that sentence in the subject line that was political in nature. I have no idea how that happened; it was not intentional. I was reminded that politics has no place on a mailing list and I couldn't agree more. I apologize to Don and anyone else I offended. Susan in Oregon
Anyone else researching SUMMERS & PRICE? Eliza 'Lo' SUMMERS married David PRICE 11 Jul 1847 in Gallatin Co. They had: Sarah James William Missouri Margaret Nancy Priscilla Eliza Jane And maybe Ben. Eliza died in 1872. She is buried at the Big Ridge Cemetery in Saline Co, next to David PRICE. Thanks, Susan in Oregon

Looking for information on James Barter, B-1-14-1849 in England, and his wife Sarah Mc Intyre, B 4-23-1845 in Ontario, Canada. Information has them being buried in New Spring Grove Cemetery. James's father moved to the Harrisburg area around 1860 from Canada. Thanks Joe Barter bjbarter@aol.com
I don't think this will be of much help but there is a Cain Cemetery close to Carrier Mills, Il. And I have the listing of the graves there and did not find any Yorks there at all . I did find several of the York family buried at Mt. Moriah cemetery which is closer to Galatia and Raleigh ( but I did not find the two names you are looking for. If you have others to look for I can see if they are in that cemetery. Kicker475@cs.com
