My great grandmother's brother, Charles Althens GOLDEN, who married Lettie Lucinda FRITTS, is the one said to be buried in the cemetery there. I believe he died in 1927, after having lived in Saline Co for some time. Any GOLDEN's still in Saline Co. today? 2. Georgetta Crawley
    3. R Webb is correct. My cemetery list shows Cottage Grove as the name of a cemetery at Grove. The coordinates are QTR QTR =SE 1/4 QTR SECT = SE 1/4 SECT= 10 TWP=9S RG= 7E STATUS=ACTIVE TOWNSHIP= Cottage. No contact name is given. Try the local funeral directors of that area. They would be able to tell you because it is an active cemetery. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 3. I've had several requests from Mary, nancyjo, and RLaRosea regarding the cemetery lists I wrote about under www.CindisList.com . I answered them personally by e-mail. Some said they "bumbled" about and never found what I was talking about. Cindi's List has a place where you click on about cemeteries and it takes you to the ISGS. I can't answer everyone's inquiry individually. But I now go directly to www.tbox.com/isgs/default.html or www.tbox.com/isgs/ilcemetery-mz/ (insert name of county).html as repeated below and shows up in blue for saline county. You'll get the IL STATE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY. There you can get the lists by county. On the top of each list that you call up, will have the name of the county. There will be a legend indicating Y=Yes R=Reading DES=Despoiled etc. Columns will show name of family or cemetery, location, whether read, active/inactive, township and remarks. The ones I was interested in does not give a source to contact. You might try the internet for a funeral director in or near that township if the site is active. >I live in CA and know only what I'm discovering via mail/internet, etc. > >Found Halltown Cemetery on ISGS list for Saline County for Mary, etc. On >www.tbox.com/isgs/default.html or >www.tbox.com/isgs/ilcemetery-mz/saline.html >It doesn't indicate who to contact for info about a cemetary. >Actually Halltown Cemetery shows a "DE" which means it has been despoiled >(not taken care of and probably vandalized and destroyed). > >But you might write the Saline County Genealogical Society PO Box 4, >Harrisburg IL 62946 or Saline Co Historical Society/Area Museum P.O. 2. Regina: My daughters and I found the Cottage Grove cemetery in Saline Co., IL this past Sept without any problem following these directions: From Harrisburg take Route 13 East about 6 1/2 miles and turn North on first road after passing Billman Road or road to S.E.I.C. and go North about 1/4 mile to Tee in road and turn West and cemetery is a short distance on the North side of the road. This cemetery is 1 1/2 miles East of S.E.I.C. but that road is often closed. It is a big cemetery out in the country all by its self on a country gravel road. My grandson and I spent a very peaceful day under the trees while the girls walked the cemetery and took pictures. 3. Regina Cottage Grove is the name of a small rural dispersed community east of Harrisburg in the low hills north of what is now Route 13. It is also the name for that township which is generally Township 9 South, Range 7 East of the 3rd Principal Meridian. 3. Cottage Grove is shown as a Ghost Town on the map of Saline County I have. The date 1898 is given beside the circle indicating it is a ghost town. It is shown as being in Cottage or Cottage Grove township, almost due east of Harrisburg (slightly north of Ill. Rt. 13) and almost due south of Eldorado. Slightly east of a line due south of Eldorado, and slightly north of a line going due east from Harrisburg. There was a Primitive Baptist church called Cottage Grove in this vicinity, but I'm not sure of its exact location.
