    3. I must have deleted the message asking about a John V. Tate. I find a John V. Tate, age 2, on the 1850 Saline County Mortality Schedule. He was born in IL and died in March 1850, of Fever, after being ill for 90 days. Faith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norman L. 3. Hi Trev, Sorry to butt in on an IL message, but do you by any chance have ant more info on the parents of your George MACE? I'm wondering who James' parents are and where James was from.. My Mace line came from Sheridan IN, Jesse Mace, whom I am trying to determine if he is the brother of John and James Mace who were also in Sheridan. This particular John and James married sisters, whose last names escape me now but definately not Ritchy (I also have Richie/Ritchie from NJ/PA). Let me know please and also if you are in contact with any other Mace descendants. I am in contact with a total of 3 others who descend from John and James who passed through Sheridan IN. thnx, melissa ----- Original Message ----- From: Trev <thward@cafes.net> To: <ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 04, 2000 9:58 AM Subject: [ILSALINE-L] KARNES > Can you Karnes researchers give me any additional info on the following family. > The MACE is my connection. 3. Hi Charlie, Where did you obtain your info that Elizabeth was dau of Jacob. Have you seen copy of marriage license or anything? I just looked on 1850 IL cen where it shows her born in VA. I show all the rest of Jacob's children (including my connection, Ellenor) as born in TN and IL. There is an opening for her after Ellenor, but this would put her between two TN births. There is a sister to Jacob named Elizabeth, that would have probably been born in VA, but that would make her too old to be the one on 1850, I think, but maybe not if she is a change of life baby. George, Jacob's father, is reported to have died in 1816, or at least his will was dated then. Possible he recovered. I was glad to see a wife for Jacob listed, as I don't show who his wife is. I don't know if they were in KY any or not. I am interested in finding marriage date/license for Eleanor/Ellenor and William Tate. Any ideas? If the info you have and I have is correct, this would make your Elizabeth a sister to my Eleanor (my gggrandmother) Faith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charlie" <andersonc001@hawaii.rr.com> To: <ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2000 14:55 Subject: Re: [ILSALINE-L] Re: ILSALINE-D Digest V00 #380 > I have been researching the families of Albert Alvis and William G. > Anderson. 3. I have a smidge of info on a John L. Karnes (don't know if its the same one). B. 11/24/1854, d. 11/17/1937. He married (probably at least a 2nd marraige for him; it was her 2nd marriage) Tennessee Catherine Davis Mugge about 1917. They did not have any children - both too old. I have her b and d, if you're intereted. 3. I have been researching the families of Albert Alvis and William G. Anderson. One can clearly see they moved from Orange County N.C. to Warren Co. KY. in the early 1800s and then moved to Saline Co. IL. What has always been a puzzle that I can't excplain is Albert Alvis had a brother, John Paul Anderson who married Elizabeth Karnes 6/30/1833 in No. Gallatin, Il. Her parents were Jacob Karnes and Amelia Williamson. They had ten children: Milly [m. King Holiday],Martha [m. Alexander Braden], Sarah [m. Polk Dillingham], William Voltaire, Mahala [m. Ruffus Mitchell], John Runner , Cimantha Rachel, Stepe Douglas [m. Nancy Parks],Melissa Ellen [m. GW Jewell], and Polly [m...Stricklin]. The brother John Paul was born in N. Galatia, IL UK 3//9/1811 and eventually decided in Saline Co in 1889. The puzzle is all his brothers and sisters born before and after him were born in either in Orange Co. NC or Warren Co. KY. Can anyone confirm I have a good birth date and place which means my family would have moved to Warren Co. KY [gone to or moved to Galatia, had a child , returned to KY and latter returned to Saline Co. IL. 2. Hi Faith, I just answered Deanna's inquiry before I saw yours. I believe there's more info. around. My great-great-great-grandfather, William Morris, brought his family to Eldorado in about 1840. My mother, Rebecca Morris, I'm almost certain had relatives there named Karnes. Perhaps it was Grace Morris Thompson who may have married a Karnes. My mother mentioned Karnes occasionally. She was a friend of Grace Karnes. Ernie Heltsley/ex-Eldoradoan

    2. Hi, Doubt if this will be much help but I always thought my mother, Rebecca Morris Heltsley, who grew up in Eldorado, was related to Karnes family members there, probably cousins. I thought it was Grace Karnes, perhaps she was married to a Karnes. Her name later when I interviewed her a few years before she died was Grace Morris Thompson. It was the first such interview I had done and I fear I didn't get as much as I could have. Mother's mother was Nannie Bradshaw, who was married to Thomas D. Morris. Another name that may come up in your research is William Sebron Bradshaw. Good luck. Let me know if these help or I may be of further help. Ernie Heltsley, ex-Eldoradoan searching for Morris in the Saline Co. area from 1840 on and Heltsleys in Western Kentucky.
