    2. Donna There was no John Davis in the 1850 census. In 1840 Saline County hadn' been formed and 1840 census only listed the name of the head of the house. In the 1840 Gallatin County Census there was a John Davis listed in Shawnee Township. Also 1 male 15-20 and 1 male 20-30. 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30 and 1 female 50-60. Hope this helps. 3. Susan, Records I obtained throughwww.tbox.com/isgs/ilcemetery-mz/saline.html show Salina Ridge Cemetery is listed as Independence IL. Saline Ridge Baptist Cemetery is Pankeyville IL. Since I've never actually lived in Saline County and can't find either township in the map atlas, I can't help you further. Try the internet for maps www.expedia.com which was suggested to me by another Saline County researcher. Good hunting. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! 3. Go to www.expedia.com. Once there look for 'Maps' at the top right side of the page. Once at 'maps' follow the directions and you will be able to see exactly where Derby is. -----Original Message----- From: Georgetta Crawley [mailto:ncrawley@juno.com] Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2001 1:47 PM To: ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILSALINE-L] Where's the township of Derby Illinois? 3. I am trying to locate some articles of the school newspaper The Purple Clarion written by my gf, who was the first Executive Editor (see http://www.thepurpleclarion.com/history.html). His name was Charles Birkett. I contacted the school and received a response from someone who was going to have a Senior student do some brief research but never heard anything back, so I am trying whatever to locate some of his writings or pictures.
