My family is the Bixler's of Eldorado. There was a Bixler School there. Does anyone know the history of it? Was wondering who it was named after, if it could be my family. How long it was in use, ect. Thanks Johnny Bond

Shirley and Shelly, I also have a great grandmother Bain. She was b. 1837. m. bef 1872 Saline Co. Her name was Arena, and my grandmother was Louella, b. 1872. I would love to trade info with both/either of you. I do not know Arena's parents names She was born in Illinois, Her mother in SC and father in NC, taken from a Census after she married George W. Hudgins. If I connect Shelly, it could be Sally Ann is a nice to Arena, a child of her brother (perhaps Charles F. Bain.). Arena is buried in Eldorado and Louella Hudgins lived there all her life and buried at Wesley. JoAnn Latham Goldman
Donna, I have no knowledge of Charles Sartain in IL. My family has always spelled the name Sartin. I suppose your Charles could be related, as there are several Charles' in my family. One Charles Sartin is said to have died in Carthage, TN, ca 1855 as a young boy. I have an uncle named Charles Edward Sartin, but he was named after his maternal grandfather. Sorry I couldn't help! Bob
Bob, I noticed the Sartain name. Maybe you can help with a question or two on Charles Alexander Sartain. He married Sarah Elizabeth Davis Lane after 1886 in Saline Co. He and Lizzie had 2 children: Monta and Charles Davis. The last one was born in 1899. Then Lizzie remarries, but I have no idea what happened to Charles. Do you know if he died or they divorced? Shirley, Here is what little information I have. Sally Ann Bain b. Sep 27, 1894 IL married Thomas Logan Cosby on Feb 4, 1911 in Gallatin Co. IL. They had 5 children but only the oldest son Thomas lived after 1922. Husband Thomas died Dec 25 1921 in Eldorado, Saline Co. IL from TB. Sally left IL about a year later with her son. I have a photo of Sally's mother but do not know her name. Sally did have an uncle Charles F. Bain. She also had two sisters, Zora and Delia. Maybe something will connect. Shelley
