    3. My husband lived in Saline County for a few years with his first wife back in the '80s which is why he is willing to take me on a research there (even though its his family I'm researching<g>). When his father moved back to Saline County after many years absence, my husband moved next door to him when he was laying brick in Southern Illinois. Of course, when he got a divorce from his first wife, he decided to move back to where he grew up, Kankakee. So needless to say, he's really looking forward to fishing there once again! He keeps on asking me to find out if there is any freezing on the ponds and lakes. Hint, hint... <VBG> We are even going to make a detour to Massac county to do some research for my side of the family, so he'll get in lots of fishing! Southern Illinois has a lot of fishing areas. Rend Lake, Crab Orchard Lake, Little Grassey Lake, Devils Kitchen lake, just to mention a few. 3. Debbie and Jeff: Another southern Illinois person heard from! Fishing is great down there. I don't know where you are living but don't let him forget Jones Lake at Equality. My home is Eldorado and we go down once in awhile. Ruth's stepmother is at Carmi in a nursing home. I have a buddy in Marion and we go to Jones and always catch a few. 2. Debbie: I have going to the Saline Courthouse in person the last two summers for my family research. They have been SUPER nice. They have let me look in person and, if I had several things needed, leave the info I need and pick it up in the morning(Such as death or marriage certificates). They even found a couple things on my family I wasn't even looking for. I hope they treat you as nice as they did me. Also - the people at the Genealogical Society are SUPER to. Johnny Bond

    3. Hi everyone, I need some info about the Saline County Courthouse's policies regarding mail in requests for info and when you show up personally. Do they perform searches for you if you give an approx. date? Or do you need to know exact information? I was told that there is a $2 fee for records before 1900 from the County Clerks office, but what about records after 1900? What is the fee then? Also, for the Clerk of Circuit Court, do I mail my request to same address as the County Clerk's? Some counties use different P.O. Box's for these two offices. And does anyone know the fees? Finally, I'm planning on going to Saline County to do research in the next couple of months (my husband wants to go fishing). Do they allow you to search the records yourself or must you fill out a form, pay a fee, then wait for the one item like some counties are going too? Any help anyone can give me on doing research with Saline County in person and by mail would be much appreciated!
