To all of you that look up in the census and marriages for William T. Tate, I want to thank you very much. I am sorry I had the the wrong date on William T. birth date. Out of the ones that were send to me I think the one in 1870 census in Tate Twp. house no 106 is the one that I wanted. Would any one know who his father is? Again thanks for all of your help. Jim
Considering that everyone in the world is on the Saline County board right now (is it raining in So. Ill.?), this might be a good time to praise an excellent (and free) source of on-line information of which some are unaware. The on-line Illinois Marriage Index (provided by the State) is a wealth of information. For those of you unfamiliar with this resource, it covers a considerable number of counties (but not yet all) throughout the State from 1763 to 1900 (I've actually seen a 1906). You can search by groom or bride, full names or only surnames, by county or by the "entire" State, etc. If you find a possible "match", a linked page tells you how to go about ordering copies of marriage registers (typically much less expensive than the actual certificates--but the page is not a certified page, etc.). The marriage register will provide a considerable amount of information--ages of the parties, names of parents (including maiden name of mothers), where they were living at time of marriage, names of witnesses, etc. Since the register is inexpensive, you can afford to do a little fishing. While on line, you will need to scroll to the right to see all of the information. Remember to include that information when you make your request. In case you have not visited this site, may I suggest you give a look: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/genealogy/marrsrch.html Happy hunting, Jo Ann Henderson Higdon Bermuda Dunes, CA, USA searching: HENDERSON, AVERY, PULLEY, JACKS, HIGDON and lots of others in So. I don't know if it is JUST me or everyone, BUT, whenever someone posts a message and follows it with the MSN.explorer browser tag, my mail endss up all gibberish. Is ANYONE else having this problem ? It ONLY happens after a message with that tag. For some reason, it destroys all the spacing etc in the text and it all runs together. Driving me CRAZIER then I was before !!! If it is NOT just me, I would greatly appreciate it if people would stop using that tag in their posts. IF just me, then PLEASE let me know !! THANKS Steve sspunk@aol.com ps GLAD to see Keisue back again !! BEST to all
Jim There is Douglas Cemetery on Rt. 142 about 4 or 5 miles North of Eldorado, on the way to Broughton. The cemetery is about 2 miles east (which is to your right) when you are driving North on the hiway,. and there is still a church there.

Toni: Thnaks for the info on the Bixler School. Hope you find the brochure. Would like to read it. I don't believe Janet is relation, if that is the same Janet Bixler still in Eldorado. I thought the school was closed long before the 1950's. Johnny Bond
Wiliam Hicks: One of the names you are searching I see is Womack. Would that be any relation to William Womack of Eldorado, married my great aunt Nancy Bixler. He was the constable for quite a while. From Tennessee. Johnny Bond
