    1. [ILSALINE-L] FW: [PAERIE] Genealogy Spam Update

    3. I'm passing along information to the Saline Co List from another List. -----Original Message----- From: Linda Emerson [mailto:lindae@mlode.com] Sent: Friday, March 09, 2001 7:29 AM To: PAERIE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PAERIE] Genealogy Spam Update It looks like the fictitious Family Discovery genealogy service has moved to Prodigy now. I contacted Prodigy this morning and they have asked that anyone who receives solicitation email from familydiscovery.com to take the following steps immediately: 1) Forward the entire Family Discovery message to: abuse@prodigy.com 2) Include the following information (most of which was provided by Rita from the Oconto County, WI list): Please note that the attached message is now being sent through your ISP service. They have been reported to various State Attorney General's Office on computer fraud, but it is hard to catch up with them. Originally the "company" linked to free information sites and placed the pages in "frames" so that it looked like it was their own work. Customers paid for that information. The scam, now, is paying for the free information links and then they "move" frequently and leave their paid-up customers without services. 3) Post these same instructions on any other lists today so that Prodigy has a better chance of finding the spammers. -- Linda Emerson Coordinator - Union Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie/townships/Union.htm ==== PAERIE Mailing List ==== Welcome to the PA-Erie Mailing List ============================== Visit Ancestry's Library - The best collection of family history learning and how-to articles on the Internet. http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library

    1. [ILSALINE-L] TATEs and McRAYs
    2. I am looking for the family of Henry Newton TATE. I have it that he was from IL but not sure of what county. His second wife Alice McRAY was from Saline County, IL. Henry's death cert. said his father's name was either Don/Dan. Hard to tell. I have not found a Don in Saline County census but there is a Daniel. After Henry married Alice they move to MO, had 2 girls (1 of them was my grandmother), and then moved on down to Dallas County, AR where they died. Henry was born 11-20-1867 and Alice was born6-28-1881 in Saline County, IL. Alice's death cert. says her father's name was Bradley McRAY. My dad said best he could remember Henry had 4 brothers: Albert, Robert, Hubbard (Hub), and James. He also thought Henry had a half brother and half sister. Couldn't remember their names. Does any of this rings any bells with anyone out there. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Carol Lemons CrazyCL52@aol.com

    3. There was a Herb (Herbert) Stricklin that played on the same HBG baseball team as my father did and he would be the age or date of birth that you listed. If you have pictures of Herb and he is the one I mentioned then go to the Saline County site and click on Photos and then baseball picture that I posted and he will be some where as a player in that picture. Please let me know if he is because I am trying to identify those in the picture besides my father. Roger L.
