    3. Donna, thank you for your help. I am waiting on some more information from my Friend. I emailed him all the material. I have had some help from Shirley Payne in Hamilton County and she found a Charles Davis Baker who died on Man 1930. I will get back to you if this is not the one or if I need further help. Many thanks. Jim At 04:36 PM 3/11/01 -0500, you wrote: >There's no Charles at Baker Cemetery. 3. Vernon Purvis, I see you are using Outlook Express. You should try out FILTERS, or E-mail RULES. To organize your mail, (and to make them easier to SEARCH later- try SEARCH on the SURNAMES you study, before you delete old mail!) nothing works better. Go under local folders, and create a new folder named IL-Saline, then under that folder, IL-Saline In, (or whatever names suit you). Then highlight a mail, and go under "message" in the top bar of the program, and chose "Create rule from message" In the dialog box that pops up, make sure it reads as follows: Apply this rule after the message arrives Where the To line contains 'ILSALINE-L@rootsweb.com' Move it to the IL-Saline-L In folder You can do this with any mail groups or newsletters you subscribe to, or with anyone you correspond with on a regular basis, and have a neatly structured set of mailboxes arranged so you can easily retrieve the mails later. Other e-mail programs work in a similar fashion, and it never hurts to learn all the features, so you can make the program work for you. For instance, if you keep getting mail from one person or company that bothers you at one e-mail address, you can shoot the mail right into the Deleted Items (trashcan)! You may want to make another box titled "IL-Saline Keep" and drag and drop the mail there that you want to save. Devote a little time to learning the features of your mail program. Even freebie programs like Outlook Express are packed full of goodies you can make use of. That goes for "Eudora" or "Pegasus" or "Netscape Messenger." The names of the features are changed, (for legal copyright reasons) but the functions are roughly the same. Hit the "Help" files of the program, a few minutes spent figuring out these simple things pays dividends later. 2. Vernon, Looks like you are in List Mode instead of Digest Mode. If you switch to Digest, you will received several messages "batched"--which should reduce your e-mails substantially. Jo Ann
