hmmm, well, the 3 links I posted for the search results I received for those 3 counties won't work so disregard.... you'll have to do it yourselves from the 1st link I sent you to at the IL State Historical Library... look for the mention of Newspapers and you'll work your way to the search engine at the "Newspaper Project"... Has anyone gotten any information as to why we lost access to Heritage Quest through the Harrisburg Library? Will we be able to access Heritage Quest in the near future through the library site? It was a great research tool while it lasted, and I hope we regain access soon. Sam
I can still access Heritage Quest. I always went to HQ at the bottom of the screen and did not go through genealogy. Strange? Everyone else I've talked to cannot get it at all. I also get it through my local library here in Paducah, but the Harrisburg link is easier. Sharon
William Penn Norman was my gr gr grandfather; his son, Jacob Walter, my gr grandfather; and Clayborn Norman, his son, was my grandfather. We are cousins a long way back. Where did you grow up? I grew up in Pankeyville where my set of Normans had lived since the 1830's. This for Judi Swann Boone - In a message you posted on June 5, 2003, you listed the decendants of Jonathan Hall of Gallatin/Saline Co. You said, "I will send the rest of information on the other children after I return..." I would really like to see what else you have since I am descended from Zachariah Hall and believe there is a strong connection between him and Jonathan Hall. I would appreciate it if you would put the othere information on line like you did for Jonathan Hall. Thank you so much - Mary Ann <[email protected]>
Well, I just want to thank so many people that responded to my request for information about Rebecca Bush. I received back much more than I ever hoped to receive. I have quoted SALINE-L replies below. I was requesting information about my grandmother Rebecca Bush who I thought was born sometime near the Civil War period. However, Sue jumped on the Rebecca Bush bandwagon searching for an older Rebecca Bush, and this brought in others. Obviously these are two different Rebecca Bush's. Carl Reynolds lists the parents of my grandmother as William and Louiser Bush. I think I have seen somewhere than William Bush was the son of Berry and Rebecca Bush. So I think the two Rebecca Bush's are grandmother and granddaughter. Then Jan Patton brings in Berry Bush's full name: Green Berry Bush. Wow, what a name selection! Jan also mentions the Dorris and Hough? lines, and my first Civil War veteran in Berry Bush, and there are dates and marriages in TN. Wow! Thank you all for this wonderful information. Carl Reyonlds, yes, I would be willing to share what information I know about Rebecca Bush. I think about all I can provide you with are some more recent family history from the Marriage of Rebecca Bush to John Wesley Jennings to the present. What I know about the genealogy before the Rebecca Bush b.1859 in Saline Co., IL is pretty much captured in this email below. Again, thanks for this wonderful information. In my mind, Harrisburg used to be BEAUTIFUL! I was born there...57 years ago. It was heaven, of course...I was little then and surrounded by the ones I loved. Spent last week end there...the town sure does need something...some kind of industry or something. I wish they would have been able to preserve the integrity of the buildings. Some of the old ones still stand, but some have been torn down for more modern structures. The most stark example of generations colliding was the wonderful old Pruitt building on the square...can't tell you anything about the soundness of the structure, but it had huge signs painted in red letters offering "Discount furniture"....looked sooooo pitiful. I know these things happen to small towns, I just wish it hadn't happened to mine. OK...I guess I could have stayed around, gotten involved, tried to help out...but my family moved away when I was in the 7th grade. Now I'm not sure what it would take. We made our traditional trip to the cemetery...Sunset Lawn. The mausoleum is in dreadful shape. I would be just sick if I was one of the families with loved ones resting there. Many Southern Illinoisians went to either Michigan or Chicago for work. Harrisburg itself is not a very pretty town, but south Saline and Pope Co. are beautiful. Sorry I posted that about the virus on the mailing list.....after talking to someone else they made me think that I was over-reacting and I shouldn't have said it on the list because it may change the subject, which is true, but I reacted before thinking. I was just worried that others would get the same letters that I did and could lose their computer, I did talk to one of the three people and found out that they are on one of the mailing list that I am on and knew nothing about their name being used....I felt bad.... My virus program caught it before I opened it Im just glad we pay to keep it updated. Again I apologize........Donna...LOL..Im stressed....

Jan: My husband Pat and I live just north of Pontiac, Mi in a small town called Clarkston. Pat's Dad Charles Howard McDermott came north to work at Pontiac Motors as a young man. Unfortunately, have never been to southern Illinois. Donna, Did you report this to AOL?
I just talked to one of the people that owned the e-mail address that sent the virus, It looks like somehow somebody has gotten into our mailing list and is using other peoples identity to send us a worm virus. Please notice the size of the e-mail and the subject of mail you receive. Subject will sound odd like DARLING,VISIBILITY,MARGINWIDTH and file size was well over 100K. Lets all make sure our subject lets us know that it is from family research and Im sorry to those that have just had their names used to do this to us. I dont know who to notify about this so I will leave that in the hands of the people that take care of the list....sorry....any input would be thankful. Donna
No I didnt know what e-mail to send it to. Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2003 10:41 PM Subject: Re: [ILSALINE-L] Mail from Wllmjnwll do not open....subject DARLING > Donna, > Did you report this to AOL? > >
