Where is MITCHELLSVILLE , IL? ----- Original Message ----- From: Sue To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 4:37 AM Subject: Re: [ILSALINE-L] Quilt update Thanks Jon for posting the Quilt Update. The owners of the shop are my sister and brother in law. This quilt is really a pretty piece of work. Just to stand and look at all the names and to think of your family with their names on the quilt. Your mind starts to wonder, thinking of the interaction between the makers of the quilt and how they had contact with our family. I myself love to quilt and have been involved with the quilting bee type of settings. To think of the ladies of the church sitting around talking and interacting while they are sewing my family members name to this quilt. Makes me want to go back in time and sit and quilt with the ladies. (silly thought ain't it ?) Anyway....... Thanks again Jon. I would certainly be willing to donate to a fund to purchase the quilt as long as it is put on public display. I was going to enter an absentee bid and if I won, donate it to the historical society for display. So many people would enjoy the history of the piece, I'm sure. Coreasia Lind Anderson, Rice, Conway, Baker, etc., etc.
Would it be possible for a large group (such as this list or interested parties on the list) to make a bid and donate it to the Museum? Just a thought. Steve, Do a Google search for the name and add "Daily Register" to the search. The article in question should come up. If you click on the link you'll get the request for money, so don't click it. Instead, click on the "cached" version kept by Google. That's free. Sue.....this might be an impossible question, but can anyone confirm if there are any LANCASTER, CRESSWELL or McHANEY names on that quilt? I wonder if the antique mall could take a great picture of it so we could see all the names?? What a treasure! I hope whom ever buys it will make it available for veiwing. Very interesting about the quilt. I noted in the article the name Tom Davenport mentioned. Does anyone have any Davenport information? I have an old picture, it belonged to my Great Aunt (who has passed away). My Aunt told me that she thought it could be Davenport children but she isn't sure. I absolutely adore the picture and I really want to identify the boy and girl in the picture. Any help would be appreciated. I could scan and send the picture, if this would help. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 7:02 AM Subject: ILSALINE-D Digest V03 #289
Trev, Thank you so much. I went to the web site and it was very interesting. Didn't find my Hiram A. Russell but there were several Russell from White, Saline, and Williamson Co. there. Thank you again. JoAnn Russell Statom
