Gifford, my g-g-grandfather. He was born 28 April 1830 in Utica, New York. He died in Bismarck, Burleigh County, ND, 30 November 1903. I have not found his birth certificate or any record of his parents. However, I know a great deal about his life. According to the 1850 census, Edmond was living with Rufus Patch, Superintendent of LaGrange Collegiate Institute, East Lima, Lagrange County, Indiana, and attending school. In 1850 he arrived in Muscatine, Iowa, where he worked as a sawyer. Edmond J. was married to Nancy Ann Renfro Warren on May 7, 1858 at Rock Island, Illinois. Nancy had a son by A. J. Warren born 25 October 1858 at Rock Island, Illinois, who was adopted by Edmond J. and named William D. Gifford. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
