With regard to your comment about not seeing a border crossing for either Elizabeth or John Freeman - do you see one for Elizabeth Inglis, which is her first married name or for Elizabeth Spence, her maiden name. I wonder if my g grandmother ever went to visit - her married name was Jane Russell Johnston/Mrs. W.R. Johnston/Jennie Johnston and she lived in Manitoba. On the 1881 census, John Freeman's son was listed as William Austin Freeman but I have found a William John Wellington Freeman. I wonder if the one and the same. I have never found a marriage for Hannah Spence, another sister from Ontario. I looked into John Coleman at one time, but it was not him.
