She has been written up in several newspaper articles. There don't seem to be any birth records for her in Paw Paw, Lee County, Illinois, but one of the newspaper accounts states that she was born 16 Dec 1870. Following is one of the shorter write-ups for her when she was married to my ancestor, Arthur P. Ayling: Who's Who in New England Ed. Albert Nelson Marquis First Edition - 1909 Chicago A.N. Marquis & Co., Publisher AYLING, Cora Belle. Business woman: b. Paw Paw, Ill., Dec 16, 1870; d. Alfred Stainbrook and Mary Robinson; pub. sch. ed'n.; m. 1894, Arthur Putnam Ayling, a glass mfr. of Milwaukee, Wis. Orphaned at 17 by death of father, with mother and 2 sisters to support; started as bookkeeper and became traveling representative for a Chicago house, advancing to a salary of $3000.00 a yr. and expenses; removed to Mass., 1898; formerly bus. Mgr. Boston Brown Book, pres, Automatic Addressing Machine Co.; now handling high-class mining propositions. Club: Woman's Press. Address: Bridgewater, Mass. Since I have been searching for her final resting place since 2002, a great deal of money has spent hiring people to look at a variety of records in the New England area. Some people went to NH and VT to get married, but not Cora. She's a hard nut to crack! Any other suggestions, let me know.
