I Laurance McQuown of the township of Menallen in the County of York and the State of Pennsylvania Yeoman being Weak in Body but of Perfect Sound and Disposing mind and memory Thanks be to Almighty God for the same Calling to mind the Certainty of Death and the Uncertainty of this mortal Life Do make and Publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I order and allow that all my just Debts and fune ral Expenses be Discharged and paid Out of my Estate by my Exe cuters hereafter Named, Also I give and Bequeth unto my Dear and well beloved wife Jean McQuown her Bed Bedstads and furniture with her horse and Sadle and Bridle with one Cow her choice of my colts with all all my house and kitchen furniture with the sum of ten pounds in Real Specia out of my Real Estate and to be Considered to be in full full of her Dower out of my sd [said] Estate and to be paid to her or her Heirs one year after my Decease Together with a Comfortable mentainence or Support of my Real Estate Enduring her widowhood or natural life with her said Creaturs or an Equal number Sufficently Kept of my sd Real Esteat, Also I give and Bequeath unto my Well Beloved Son Thomas McQuown the sum of Five pounds in Real Specia and to be paid to him or his heirs four years after my Deceas and no more and it is my will and intention and I would have the same Sum (he being by me already in Part advanced) To be understood and and taken to be in full of his shear of my whole Estate both Real and Personal and in full of every thing that he can claim from me for any Servises heretofore done or on any other Pretence whatsoever, Also I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Son John McQuown the sum of Five Pounds Specia to be paid to him or his heirs Four years after my Deceas and no more And it is my Will and Intention and I would have the same sum [he being by me already in Part advanced] to be understood and taken to be in full of his shear of my whole Estate both Real and Personall and in full of every thing that he can claim of me for any Servises heretofore Done or on any other pretence whatsoever Also I give and Bequeath unto my son James understood and taken to be in full of her shear of my whole Estate Both Real and Personall and in full of every thing she can clame of me for any servises heretofore done or in any other pretence the sum of Five pounds Specia to be paid to her or her heirs one year after my Decease and no more and it is my will and Intention and I would have the same sum [she being in part already advanced] to be understood and taken to be in full of her sheare of my Esteate Both Real and Personal and in full of every thing she can clame of me for any servises heretofore done or in any othe Pretence whatsoever, Also I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Mary now wife to George McCreary the sum of Five Pounds Specia to be paid to her heirs three years after my Decease, and no more and it is my will and Intention, and I would have the same sum [she having been already in part advanced] to be understood and taken to be in full of her share of my whole Estate both Real and Personal and in full of every thing she can clame of me for any servises heretofore done or in any other pretence whatsoever, Also I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Jean wife to David Pantan the sum of Five pounds Specia to be paid to her or her heirs. One yeare after my Decease and no more and it is my Will and Intention and I would have the same sum [she having been already in part advanced] to be understood and taken to be in full of her share of whole Estate both Real and personal and in full of Every thing she can clame of me for any Servises heretofore done or in other pretence whatsoever. Also I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Rebecah Wife of Benjamin Stewart the sum of Five Pounds Specia to be paid five years after my Decease and no more and it is my will and Intention and I would have the same sum [she having been already in part advanced] to be understood and taken to be in full of her shear of my whole Estate both Real and Personal and in full of every thing she can clame of me for any servises heretofore done or in any other pretence whatsoever, Also I give and Bequeath unto my Well beloved Son Laurance McQuown his heirs and Assigns the Improvement and tract of Land whereon i now Live (Except One Hundred acres and allowance wh__ I allow to be Laid of uper end of sd tract Adjoining William Paterson Charles Good and other runing stright across sd tract) situate in the Township of Menallen in the County of York afersaid with the Buildings and apurtenance whatsoeve thereunto belong- ing To hold to him his Heirs and assigns forever, lickwis his Hors and Sadle and plough and Irons two pair of Horse geers, Also I givea and Bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Margr. McQuown the sum the sum of five pounds Specia to be paid to her or her heirs Six years after my Deceas her Bed Bedsted and furnutur with one Cow with her living of my sd Estate whilst Remains unmaried and one Cow kept in during said term, Also I give and Bequath unto my Daughter Eloner the sum of five pounds Specia to be paid to her or her heirs five years after my Decease her Bed Bedsted and furnutor with one Cow with her living on my Estate whilst she remains unmaried and one Cow kept Enduring sd term, And Lastly I Do Constitute and appoint my trusty and well Beloved Son John McQuown and my true and trusty friend William Gilliland to be my joint Executors of this my Last will and Testament Impowering them my sd Executors at publick Seal to Despos of all the residue of my Personal Estat and Either at publick or privet Seal to sell and Convey One Hundred acres of my Real Esteat as afore mention the amount of sd Seal to go to Discharg my Just Debts and the Bequeath and Legacies aforesaid and if there should not be a suficency thereof the Re- mainder I allow my Son Laurance to pay off of the other part of my Estate to him Bequathed, Revoking and Disanulling all former and and other will by me heretofore made Ratifying and Con- firming this and no other to by my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this Thirteenth Day of July in the Yeare of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Nine. the words Horse and Saddle pleugh and Irons and two per of geers in the Eleventh Devis Being Centerlined before lined. Signed Sealed published prenounced } Laurance [X] McQuown [Seal] and Decleared by the said Laurance - } McQuown to be his last Will and Testament in the presens of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Carl Gist James Patterson Thomas Sillik York County Pa Before me Jacob Barnitz Esq Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of York in the state of Pennsylvania personally came Charles Gist and Thomas Sillik two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of writing and the said Thomas Sillik on his Solemn Oath taken with an up lifted hand and the said Charles Gist on his Solemn Affirmation the respectively Conscientiously scrupling the taking of an oath in the Common form Do Severally say that they were personally and saw and heard the above named Laurence McQuown make his mark unto the seal and pub- lish the foregoing Instrument of Writing as and for his last Will and Tes- tament and that at the home of the doing thereof he the said Lau- rance McQuown was of sound and Disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief and that they Subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of the said Testator and at his request and farther ther that they also saw James Patter- son the other witness Sign his name thereto as a witness at the same time. Sworn Affirmed & Subscribed at York the 22 Day of March 1790 before me J. Barnitz, Regr. I saw Copy taken from & Compared with the Original this 22day of March 1790 J Barnitz Regr Memorandum That Letters Testamentary in Common form were granted unto John McQuown and William Gilliland of the Estate of Laurence McQuown late of York County Deceased, Inventory to be exhibited into The Registers Office at York on or before the 22 Day of April next and an account or Reckoning in a year or when thereunto Legally Required, Given under my hand and Seal of office at York this Twenty Second Day of March Anno Domini 1790.
