No one in our family knows anything about Nels which is also spelled Nelse. I found informatiton on a census that says he came to the US in 1889 and my mother said she had heard he worked on a ship and "jumped ship" as she put it. He was older when he came here and we know he came from Norway. When family member attempted to search for information in Norway, they were told that he had siblings named Oliver, Daisy and Sophie which were what he named his children.
