His mother Catherine Haley Rounds, was virtually abandoned when she was 2 years old in California. Her parents were John and Rose Etta Hulsey Haley. John's parents were John and Myrtle ? Haley. Many in these 2 families moved from the tri state mining area (Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri) around 1922 to CA. The elder John indicated in the 1900 and 1910 census that he was born in 1880 in Illinois. I don't know if the elder John moved to Calif. or not, but the younger John (born in 1900 in Missouri) did, and is buried there. Please, if any of this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me.
