It could just be coincidence, but these two families lived next door to each other in the 1910 census. The only thing that threw me was that 'Mary' (not Marie) had a 2 year old son that does not show up in subsequent census years. 1910 US Census, Illinois, Tazewell, Fondulac, District 135, East Peoria Village Residence: 939 Washington Street West Casey, James, Head, Male, White, 49, Married Once, 26 years, IL, IRE (English), IRE (English), Sawmill Hand Sarah, Wife, 43, Married Once 26 years, IL, OH, IL MARY, Daughter, 24, IL Patrick, Son, 21, IL Margaret, Daughter, 16, IL Harry, Son 14, IL Anna, Daughter, 11, IL William, Son, 7, IL Dorotha, Daughter, 5, IL Louis, Grandson, 2, IL 1910 US Census, Illinois, Tazewell, Fondulac, District 135, East Peoria Village Residence: 1136 Washington Street West Stephenson, William, Head, 60, Married Once, 27 years, KS, US, US, Watchman, Warehouse Mary, Wife, 50, Married Once, 10 born 6 living, IL, US, US WILLIAM H. 22, Son, IL Charles R. 21, Son, IL George, 14, Son, IL 1900, US Census, Illinois, Tazewell, Fondulac, Dist 140 East Peoria Village Casey, James, Mar 1861, 39, Married 15 years, IL, IR, IR Line Work Sadie, Mar 1867, 33, Married 15 years, 7 born 7 living, IL, OH, IL MARY, August 1886, 14, IL Hazel, July 1887, 13, IL Patrick, April 1899, 11, IL Marsella, June 1891, 8, IL Maagie, June 1893, 6, IL Harry, February 1895, 5, IL Anna, July 1899, 10/12, IL 1900 US Census, Illinois, Peoria, Limestone, Dist 80 Stevenson, Wm, Head, Mar 1849, 51, Married 18 yrs, IL, US, Irish, Coal Miner Mary, April 1860, 40, Married 18 yrs, 9 born 6 living, IL, US, New York Marion E. Since I note that their eldest child Owen was born in Ireland and James, their youngest was born in Illinois, it is a certainty that they were married in Ireland. Locating a death certificate for any of Mary's (Marie's) siblings may reveal the place of birth as well as maiden name of the mother. It would seem that Marion may have been born out of wedlock since the "official" marriage date conflicts with Marion's birthdate. At first I thought that perhaps Mary had been married before, but I was unable to find any record in Illinois to indicate that. I located a marriage record for William Henry Stevenson and Mary Dozar, married 22 Jun 1878 in Peoria county, IL. Although Mary Dosart is listed as 'married' in the 1880 census and living at home (without her husband), the William Stevenson that I tracked was living in Iowa during this time so I am not entirely sure that this is the same family. Further research should be done to sort this out. Illinois has a wealth of information on line and their county clerks are quite helpful in tracking down old records. http://www.idph.state.il.us/vitalrecords/countylisting.htm http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html I hope you find this information helpful. I wish you the very best of luck with your continued research. Donna Hodach-Price Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
