If you have access to ancestry.com you can see these records. According to the Illinois Statewide Death Index, a Frederick Mode died 8/22/1929 in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. His death certificate number is 3820623. (It's very likely that this is the same man listed in the 1930 census and that his family just included him!)
